The Hives - Veni Vedi Vicious |

'Veni Vedi Vicious' is an unbearably catchy, funny and grubby lo-fi cocktail topped off with singer Howlin' Pelle Almqvist's distinctive yet not technically "polished" voice. It is the most exhausting rock album I can remember hearing with 12 songs in 28 minutes, and a variety of wails and yelps from Almqvist to make something entirely new. The Hives proves to us that what works is thrashing guitars, unfogettable melodies and a voice which will make you cringe, in a great way!

The single 'Hate To Say I Told You So' is as far as I'm concerned the ultimate song of rebellion. With fantastic guitar, then drumming and then that incredible voice which all builds up into a fast paced thriller of a song. The other single 'Main Offender' is the song which I feel is most likely to change the world overnight. It begins with a catchy riff which then extends into a classic rocky punk song, the fast moving, thrashy development of the song actually reminds me of Nirvana's 'Smells Like Teen Spirit',but just wait until you hear Almqvist yelp out "WHY ME!", you'll love it...in fact you'll love the whole album and you'll fall in love with music all over again...PHEW!
